Joseph Diskin

Joseph Diskin has more than three decades of educational experience.  A native of Middlesex, Joe earned a bachelor of science degree at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, and a master of arts degree at Kean University, Union.  He served as an elementary school health and physical education teacher in the Dunellen and Rockaway Township school systems while coaching track and field, football and basketball.  After a term as an elementary school assistant principal in Sparta Township, Diskin was principal in the Saddle Brook public school system before assuming a role as principal of an intermediate school for the Bridgewater Raritan Regional School System for the past 23 years.  He holds numerous New Jersey certifications as principal, supervisor and school business administrator, as well as for coaching and officiating in track and field. Joe also holds certifications as both a life coach and executive coach, along with specialized training in positive psychology and mindful leadership. His commitment to fostering well-being in education earned him a nomination for a World Happiness Award in 2019.

Joe currently serves the Diocese of Metuchen as the Superintendent of Schools.  Transitioning from 35 years in public education to a more faith-based focus was an important opportunity for Joe, as a person of faith, to be part of a Catholic ministry where he believes his interpersonal and leadership skills can make a positive impact for Catholic education.

Diskin and his wife, Kate, who is the superintendent of schools in Millburn, have been married for 27 years and have two sons. Residents of Mountainside, they are members of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield.
